ISLAMABAD, Aug 25: The SPI inflation soared by 16.21 per cent on week ended August, 19 over the previous week after considerable in crease in the prices of pulses and other daily use commodities, according to Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).
Official figures of Sensitive Price Indicators (SPI) released by the FBS showed an increase of Rs7 per kg in the price of moog pulse washed and an increase of Rs 3 in the price of gram pulse washed during the week. The price of mash pulse washed went up by Rs2 per kg and masoor pulse washed by Rs1.25 per kg. These are official prices which might be relatively lower than the market prices.
The list of essential commodities whose prices increased during the week was quite large with 26 items on it out of the total 53 essential commodities taken from what many believe ‘ambiguous’ 17 urban centers being used by the government to compute and understate the weekly inflation SPI.
