The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has provisionally collected Rs 494. 732 billion during July-November of the curent fiscal year against the target of Rs 506 billion, reflecting a shortfall of Rs 12 billion.
According to the FBR data compiled, the total revenue collection during the first five months of current fiscal stood at Rs 494. 732 billion against Rs 459. 602 billion in the corresponding period last fiscal, showing an increase of 7. 6 percent.
The net direct taxes collection stood at Rs 159. 505 billion during July-November (2010-11) against Rs 155. 883 billion in the same period last fiscal, depicting an increase of 2. 3 percent. The indirect taxes collection was Rs 335. 227 billion during first five months of current fiscal as compared to Rs 303. 719 billion in the corresponding period last fiscal, reflecting a healthy growth of 10. 4 percent.
The net sales tax collection was Rs 225. 723 billion during the July-November (2010-11) against Rs 199. 037 billion in the same period last fiscal, showing an improvement of 13. 4 percent. Break-up of sales tax collection revealed that the net sales tax collection at the import stage was Rs 111. 290 billion, whereas sales tax collection on domestic consumption was Rs 114. 433 billion during the period under review. The collection of Federal Excise Duty was Rs 46. 658 billion during the July-November (2010-11) against Rs 47. 997 billion in the same period last fiscal, reflecting a decrease of 2. 8 percent.
The collection of customs duty was Rs 62. 846 billion during the July-November (2010-11) against Rs 56. 685 billion in the same period last fiscal, reflecting an increase of 10. 9 percent. Despite massive tariff rationalisation, the FBR Customs Wing has shown remarkable performance by showing over 10 percent increase in import duty collection.
The FBR has paid refunds and rebates to the tune of Rs 38. 582 billion in first five months of 2010-11 as compared to Rs 28. 612 billion in the same period last fiscal, showing an increase of 7. 6 percent.
The FBR monthly collection revealed that the revenue collection in November 2010 stood at Rs 97. 690 billion against Rs 87. 844 billion in the corresponding period last fiscal, showing an increase of 11. 2 percent.
