5-Day Pak- China Business Forum kicked off in Islamabad


Pak- China Business Forum started on Saturday at Pak-China Friendship Center Islamabad. Event is jointly organized by COMSATS Institute of Information Technology and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries. Pak –China Business forum was inaugurated by Mr.Noor Muhammad Jadmani Special Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs. President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr.Zafar Bakhtawri, Mr. Zia Main, Chairman CongSong, Pro Rector Dr Harron Rasheed, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, faculty, students and administrative staff members of CIIT were also present on the occasion. 

While addressing the gathering, Mr.Li Zhou from China proposed many business programs of mutual interest during his speech. Promoting and supporting greater efforts to develop renewable sources of energy and Implement policies at the national and international level is of vital importance he added.  Rector COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Dr. S.M.Junaid Zaidi expressed his appreciation for Chines and Pakistani participants for their active participation in the event. He also announced the holding of this Forum on annual basis in the last week of March every year. He proposed establishment of a Technology Park with the mutual coordination of ICCI and COMSATS Institute of Information Technology to provide a platform to Chinese and Pakistani Business community for the promotion of  mutual trade activates. 

 Mr.Imran Cheema, Executive Director General Board of Investment has shared BOI’s vision on Pak- China cooperation for business and trade development. He  emphasized that to achieve the objectives of harmonious globalization, businesses development concentrated efforts be made. He added that strengthening and enhancing existing cooperation mechanisms are vital for social and economic development. Guest of honor Mr.Noor Muhammad Jadmani Special Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Promoting and facilitating economic progress of developing countries through transfer of technology and diffusion of knowledge is very important especially for the South Asian region. Devising national strategies for the human resource development and promotion of Science and Technology are also essential, he added.

COMSATS-IIT introduces an academia driven model of Business Cooperation by conducting Pak-China Business Forum to promote academia-industry collaboration in business and economic sector for mutual benefit of both the countries. Major Chinese and Pakistani companies, small and medium enterprises, entrepreneurs, universities, and research & development organizations are participating in the forum activities. The forum is providing an opportunity for commercialization of products and processes of the participating organizations.  The main themes of the forum are Renewable Energy Technologies, setting up Joint Pak-China Production facilities for Laptops and other electronics equipment, Information & Communication Technologies, Water Conservation, Purification & Sanitation, Biomedical Materials and General category.

The main features of the event include an exhibition of products by 100 local and 30 Chinese companies. Workshops and sideline meetings with industrialists, academicians and Pakistani Business community have been planned for the promotion of business activity among the two countries. Many Chinese companies are participating to promote Pak- China Business liaison. A strong driver behind the South-South cooperation is the increasing importance of middle-income countries. These developments, coupled with the growing number of organizations are dedicated to research based learning. 

The event is being organized in collaboration with the Pakistan Board of Investment, Pakistan Science Foundation, National Testing Service, Higher Education Commission, Capital Development Authority, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Pakistan Software Export Board. The 4-day event of Pak-China Business Forum will end on 26th March 2013.
