NPO, IWCCI join hands to back women entrepreneurs

Chief Executive Officer of National Productivity Organisation (NPO) Khawaja Muhammad Yousuf on Thursday said the potential for productivity betterment has not been fully tapped in the country which has been clogging economic growth.

He said that we have been mediating with international and local organisations including various chambers of commerce to ensure better, quick, economic and environmental friendly products and services. Our efforts have been proving fruitful.

Khawaja Muhammad Yousuf said this while talking to a delegation of women entrepreneurs led by President Islamabad Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI) Samina Fazil.

NPO has developed a systematic plan to enhance productivity to cope with an increasingly competitive environment and ascertain sustainable economic growth, he said.

Khawaja Muhammad Yousuf invited businesswomen to participate in the upcoming international seminar on good governance and an energy seminar scheduled on Nov 20th in which experts from 20 countries are participating.

The NPO chief informed that initiative of Women Entrepreneurs Development System (WEDS) established in Multan has proved to be a great success and now building a WEDS in Islamabad is under serious consideration.

Meanwhile, the NPO will provide necessary training to the women on discounted rates that will include energy conservation in the households, he added.

He informed that USAID has been actively supporting businesswomen and artisans and that NPO has planned to take Pakistani artisans to London.

Speaking at the occasion Samina Fazil and others said that government should support enterprises to meet global market standards and multiple economic challenges.

Capacity building of women entrepreneurs and artisans should figure prominently on the agenda of NPO and more international experts should be invited to teach new approaches of efficiency, they demanded.
