President Mamnoon Hussain has urged the stakeholders including government and non-governmental organizations, producers and service providers to involve consumers, civil society and media in raising awareness about international standards.
The President stated this in his message on the World Standards Day, being observed on October 14. The World Standards Day this year is being observed with the theme ‘International Standards Ensure Positive Change.’Mamnoon Hussain hoped this theme “would not only serve to further highlight the importance of maintaining international standards, but would also create greater awareness about the impact of conformity to international standards in bringing about positive change in socio-economic milieu especially at a time when quality of products and environmental impacts are the major concerns world across.”
He said that the day reminded the need to ensure quality of products, services and processes in conformity with the internationally recognized standards.
The President said the observance of this day would also serve to raise greater awareness among the producers, industrialists, manufacturers and service providers about the importance of observing international standards for efficiency, acceptability and sustainability of their businesses and to fulfill international obligations, besides winning confidence of the consumers.
He commended the efforts of Ministry of Science and Technology and Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) for their efforts towards promoting standards and conformity of the products to international standards and also protecting the consumers from business malpractices.
The President appreciated all the national and international bodies who were contributing towards this cause.
