Chairman Founder Group Dr. Shahid Rashid Butt on Sunday said that Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries (ICSTSI) has started making inroads in the business community so that it can serve them employing all the skills and resources.
The ICSTSI has already inked MoUs for cooperation with various chambers of commerce including Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said.
The veteran business leader said in a statement that with largest representation of traders and small businesses, we have decided not to ignore women and home-based businesses which are a source of livelihood for thousands of people.
Shahid Rashid Butt said that we have seen extraordinary growth in home-based businesses therefore we have decided to pay special attention to serving more of the business community.
Home-based businesses are an important segment of the business community and getting more important all the time but this sector is ignored on policy and other level, he remarked.
The home-based businesses continue serve people all over the world and, yet they are practically invisible, he lamented.
This is a massive, multi-billion dollar market and it is an opportunity for chambers that is not to be ignored as future of our young generation of entrepreneurs in tied to it.
Butt said that chambers of small traders are essential to the economic growth of individual and trading communities and the body that cannot provide value to its member would fade away eventually.
Today’s environment call for increased focus on networking, updating information, advice regarding promotion of business, improve communication tools, information dissemination through forums, workshops and seminars, said Butt.
