Mr. Enver Baig, Chairman Benazir Income Support Programme called on Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar at his office this morning.
During the meeting they held in-depth discussion on various aspects of the programme with particular emphasis on ensuring transparency. Cash transfers must reach the deserving and the poor of the poorest, emphasized the Finance Minister.
The Finance Minister said that during the current financial year the government had allocated Rs.60 billion in the budget and pitched a target of 5.3 million families to be covered under the programme.
Senator Ishaq Dar said that he had voluntarily deposited his personal share under Income Support Levy (ISL) and had great faith that well to do and affluent Pakistanis would also contribute towards ISL as their share for helping their less fortunate countrymen.
Mr. Enver Baig assured the Finance Minister that he is working whole heartedly to achieve the noble objectives of the programme and would ensure that these are not only carried out transparently but that they are also seen as such.
