Need to look at Pakistani market, Danish Envoy argues on investors

Around 90 business people participated in the largest Pakistan business seminar ever arranged in Denmark. The seminar was hosted by the Danish Chamber of Commerce and the Danish Pakistani Business Council.

The Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan, Jesper Moller Sorensen, gave the key-note speech about the market potential in Pakistan. He also informed the participants about recent positive developments, such as making DANIDA business instruments available for Danish companies, and the opening of the commercial section at the Danish Embassy.

The Ambassador argued that now could be a good moment to take a closer look at the Pakistani market. There could be a first mover advantage for those companies entering the market now. He stated that he had become encouraged by the interest he had seen in recent months from several Danish companies which are now beginning to look to Pakistan. Some had already visited Pakistan.

Secretary of the Board of Investment, Mr. Cheema, and Pakistan's Ambassador to Denmark, Ambassador Masroor Junejo, also participated in the meeting.

Secretary Cheema informed the participants about the work that the Pakistani government is doing to improve the business environment. He encouraged more Danish companies to look to Pakistan as an investment opportunity.

Ambassador Sorensen informed the participants that the Danish Embassy in Pakistan was looking at organizing a trade delegation within energy and energy efficiency in the autumn, and he also said that he had discussed with his counterpart in Copenhagen, the Pakistani Ambassador, to bring a Pakistani delegation to Denmark later in 2014.
