He said government was making all possible efforts to revive industrialization in the country and was exploring various options for the restoration of sick industries. For this purpose, government was working on short and long-term energy projects to ensure consistent supply of electricity and gas to industries. He said government was also setting priorities for export-oriented industries and those that provide more job opportunities to pave way for a flourishing Pakistan. He said political dharnas were affecting the economy, however, government was prepared to cope with such challenges.

He assured that Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production would play its role to enhance the industrial and production sector in order to ensure continuous development of the manufacturing activities in the country. Acknowledging the role of business community in the economic development of the country, he also invited ICCI representatives to present their proposals in the meeting of Standing Committee on Industries and Production for addressing the issues of industry, which would be given due consideration to facilitate industrial growth.

Speaking at the occasion, M. Shakeel Munir, Acting President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry highlighted the issues being faced by the local industry.
